Printing Guidelines

GENERAL PRINT SET UP GUIDELINES

File Preparation & Requirements: Please follow our guidelines. Products personalized incorrectly due to files not meeting our specifications will not be our responsibility, as outlined in our policy. Ensure to follow all instructions.

Individual product requirements are located towards the bottom of the page.

We have two types of templates available for customers.

  1. Blank Design Templates: Empty templates for a graphic designer to use. Our templates are blank JPEG or PDF images that you can open in any digital image editing program like Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, Corel, and more. NOTE: After your final design is ready, turn off or remove the template instructions and dotted lines from your final design. If you do not remove them we will personalize your product with the instructions and guides.
  2. Pre-Designed Templates: A line of full-fledged design pieces previously designed by our professional graphic design team. These templates can be accessed via our design studio and you can easily swap the preset template information with your information to get professional design in just a few moments.

  • FILE FORMAT:

We only accept JPG and PDF.

File Format Exeptions

The exceptions below are very limited and we will reach out to you, in case your order requires them.

  • For some variable data products, we will also accept CSV
  • For some white ink products or vector-only plotting services, we will also accept AI, TIFF & EPS via EMAIL ONLY.
  • For some embroidery products -based on your setup choice- we will also accept DST via EMAIL ONLY.

Occasionally, in response to customer service requests or specific product requirements, we accept PSD, ID, BMP, SVG, and CDR files. Please note that these files cannot be submitted through our online ordering system. Additionally, while we do accept Word and Publisher files, the quality of these files may vary and may not always meet high standards.

  • FILE SIZE:

The maximum acceptable combined file size for all uploads using our standard uploader is 145MB.

Anything over 145MB will use our large file uploaded for which free previews are not available.

The maximum acceptable combined file size for all email attachments is 25MB

For extremely large files/corrupt file uploads we may allow you to send a 3rd party link (ex: dropbox, google drive, etc), contact us to ask us how.

  • RESOLUTION:

All file formats must have a minimum of 300 dpi (dot per inch) resolution unless we request a vector file. The images designed for the web are done at a low screen resolution of 72 dpi, please do not use anything lower than 300 dpi. Print images need to be created at 300 dpi or there will be a substantial drop in the image quality.

  • COLOR MODE:

All color artwork and/or images must be provided in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) color mode for most paper and card products, and individual color printing like offset or screen printing must be in spot color.
All black & white artworks and/or images must be provided in grayscale color mode.
Heavy black ink might cause smearing or smudging on ALL products.

  • BLEED:

What's a bleed?
Bleed is the portion of the product that will be trimmed off when it is cut to the final size.

Why bleed?
The purpose of a bleed is to continue a color, image, or design to the edge of the product. Due to the possibility of shifting in the trimming process, a bleed is required to ensure that a white line does not show on the edges of your product.

We require ALL files to be built to the full bleed dimension specified for each trim size.

We automatically trim the bleed off of each side, which will result in the desired trim size.

Please build your print-ready digital files by adding the appropriate bleed to your file.
Add 0.125" bleed to each dimension and another 0.125" should be kept within your artwork's final size for the safe zone (or 0.25" bleed on all four sides)

What's a safe zone?
Safe Zone is the portion within the bleed that is used to ensure a flawless printed piece in case the bleed is cut too close which quite often occurs.
All critical elements (text, images, logos, etc.) must be kept at least 0.25" inside the edge or 0.125" inside the bleed line. Anything left close to the edge may be cut off during trimming.

  • ROUND CORNERS:

For round corner cards make sure that your bleed is 0.25" + 0.25" for your safe zone.

  • CROP MARKS:

Please build your press-ready digital files without any crop marks.
There should be no Lines indicating where the paper should be cut.

  • FONTS:
  1. Fonts must be embedded in PDF files.
  2. Fonts must be outlined or converted to paths or curves in EPS files.
  3. Some fonts have copyright restrictions and will not embed in PDF Files.
  4. Quark Express: Fonts and images must be included with all files submitted. (Mac only)

  • BORDERS:

Please allow .125" cutting space around your card. NO BORDERS are recommended, as shifting in the cutting process may make borders appear uneven (view flaws and imperfections section below).

  • IMPERFECTIONS & FLAWS

Due to the nature of our printing services and expedited rush printing methods all products whether rush or not tend to have minor imperfections and flaws listed below. Paper printing product deviations, shifting, and cutting can be of up to .25" in any direction.
Napkin printing deviations and shifting can be up to 10 degrees and up to .5" in any direction. Screen printing (shirts, aprons, tote bags, etc.) deviations and shifting can be up to 20 degrees and up to 2" left to right and top to bottom of up to 5".
